About Me

JoAnn maintains a private practice online through iTherapy.com.

With experience in education and special education, JoAnn has also been an elementary school guidance counselor and is now a marriage and family therapist. A graduate of the University of New England, specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy, she is currently a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for chronic trauma and acute stress disorder.

Dr. Baird is an interactive, psychodynamic therapist. Her therapeutic approach is providing support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each person to help them build on their strengths and integrate their experiences.

Education
Dr. Baird received her Ed.D from Boston University in Systems Development. More recently she  attended the University of Nevada, Reno, and completed a research course in Marriage and Family Therapy through Northcentral University. She is aware of the major evidence-based practices in her field. Dr. Baird's most recent interest is in the area of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Dr. Baird is well-trained and highly adept at applying this model to treat both acute and complex, developmental trauma. 

License: Dr. Baird maintains a current license as a Nevada Marriage and Family Therapist.

JoAnn Baird is a member in good standing with the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT) and Eye Movement and Desensitization International Association (EMDRIA).
