JoAnn specializes in individual, couples and family therapy, and maintains a private practice online through iTherapy.com.
With experience in education and special education, JoAnn has also been an elementary school guidance counselor and is now a marriage and family therapist. A graduate of the University of New England, specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy, she is currently a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for chronic trauma and Emotionally Focues Therapy (EFT) for couples therapy.
Dr. Baird is an interactive, psychodynamic therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each person to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
Dr. Baird has attended the University of Nevada, Reno, and completed a research course in Marriage and Family Therapy through Northcentral University to assure that she is aware of all major evidence-based practices in her field. Dr. Baird's most recent interest (and passion) is in the area of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Dr. Baird is well-trained and adept at applying this model to treat both acute and complex, developmental trauma, which she believes is the basis for most, if not all, diagnoses. Most recently Dr. Baird studied with Katie O'Shea, Dr. Sandra Paulsen and numerous other highly respected trauma specialists.
